Dutertes’ prayer rally goes to Cebu City

Hakbang ng Maisug, a movement that started in Davao City last month, which strengthened the “Dabawenyos are not for Sale” campaign, goes to Cebu City on Sunday.

Carrying the battle cry “Filipinos are not For Sale”, the Cebu prayer rally will be held at the SRP-Cebu Kasadya ground on February 25, 2024.

Former president Rodrigo Duterte is expected to grace and speak during the event, which aims to promote transparency, accountability, peace, and security.

The prayer rally, which is part of the Hakbang ng Maisug movement against the People’s Initiative (PI), will be staged in time for the commemoration of the 38th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.

It can be recalled that Davao City was the first city that went head-on against the move to revise the constitution via PI by staging the Hakbang ng Maisug prayer rally at San Pedro Square on January 28, 2024.

The Davao City rally was attended by former president Duterte, together with his children, Vice President and Education Secretary Sara; Davao City First District Rep. Paolo; Davao City Mayor Sebastian; and some close allies led by Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go.

Before the evening rally, a Hakbang ng Maisug Leaders Forum was held at the Grand Men Seng Hotel where Mayor Baste called for the resignation of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

It was also during the forum when lawyer Vic Rodriguez, the former executive secretary of Marcos, told the attendees that his presence is a show of support to the cause and manifestation that, just like the Dabawenyos, he is not for sale.

Aside from Rodriguez, also present during the Davao City events were Davao del Norte First District Representative Pantaleon Alvarez, Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI) anchors Lorraine Badoy and Jeffrey Celiz, former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque Jr., Davao City Third District Representative Isidro Ungab, lawyer Glenn Chong, former presidential spokesperson lawyer Sal Panelo, former Philippine Sports Commission chair William “Butch” Ramirez, former National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon and former Cabinet Secretary Leoncio “Jun” Evasco Jr.

The Hakbang ng Maisug prayer rally in Davao City last month coincided with Marcos-led “Bagong Pilipinas” concert in Manila.
