The Department of Labor and Employment Region 11 on Monday said that the department is monitoring establishments in the Davao Region in the implementation of the P38 wage adjustment, which took effect on March 6, 2024.
This after the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – 11 (RTWPB-11) recently approved an increase of P38 per day for minimum wage workers in Davao Region to be implemented in two tranches.
The first tranche of wage increases under Wage Order No. RB11-22 implemented on March 6, 2024 was P19 per day.
The new minimum wage rate for workers in the non-agriculture sector shall be P462 per day while for the agriculture sector workers, it shall be P457 per day.
The second tranche, on the other hand, under the recent wage order in the amount of P19 per day, shall take effect on September 1, 2024, which brings the new minimum wage rate for workers in the non-agriculture sector to P481 per day and P476 per day for the agriculture sector workers.
DOLE Regional Director Randolf C. Pensoy said they are tracking establishments in implementing the wage adjustment.
“Its so hard but it is the law. We are mandated to implement, monitor as well as to keep on tracking those establishments considering that a mandate of DOLE to have this visitorial and regulatory power. We regulate those establishments which are not following,” he said during the Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City Davao on Monday.
Pensoy said DOLE 11 has labor inspection monitoring team and visitorial power to visit and regulate the order to the establishments.
“Ikaduha kung naay mga complains or mutawag sa among opisina puwede sad nga ang among labor inspectors muadto didto aron matan-aw kung ang establishment, particularly from the private sector, is in compliance with the new wage increase,” he said.
The RTWPB 11 also granted a wage increase of domestic workers under Wage Order No. RB11-DW-03, that took effect on March 6, 2024. From the current P4,500 unvaried monthly minimum wage rate across the region, the new minimum wage rates shall be P6,000 per month for domestic workers in chartered cities and first-class municipalities and P5,000 per month for domestic workers in other municipalities.
“The same thing will happen aron ma-implement ni. Ang atong labor inspectors mubisita ug maminaw pinaagi sa inyong complain,” Pensoy said.
Pensoy said in Davao Region, since the implementation of the wage order RB 11-22 and RB 11-domestic workers, DOLE 11 has not yet received any complaints.
“Pero kung naay complain duolon gyud ni siya (establishments) kay part man ni sa among labor standard monitoring,” he said.
