Senator Imee Marcos led the distribution of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD’s) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) to women, solo parents, senior citizens, and marginalized students of the towns of Carmen and Kabacan held at Carmen Municipal Gym on Sunday.

Sen. Marcos was joined by Province of Cotabato Governor Emmylou “Lala” Taliño-Mendoza and Third District Representative Ma. Alana Samantha Taliño Santos,

At least P16 million worth of AICS or assistance to 2,000 and 1,000 beneficiaries from the towns of Carmen and Kabacan respectively received the said aid.

Two thousand students from the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) in Kabacan also received P5,000 each in cash assistance.

“Ito ay pangdagdag na tulong na. Alam natin na dalawang taon nagsara yung eskwela, walang educational assistance, kasi walang paaralan na bukas nung panaon ng pandemic. Alam natin ang mga estudyante ngayon naghahabol sila at kahit may remote, may hybrid, naghihirap pa rin sila. We are giving a little bit of assistance through DSWD and choosing the marginalized and indigent students,” Marcos said in a press conference.

Loreto Cabaya Jr., regional director of DWSD 12, said the distribution of the assistance is timely in time of Ramadan.

“Ang provincial government ay nagbigay na ng bigas all over the province,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mendoza thanked the senator for the assistance extended to the various sectors and the students.
