Suspect surrenders more than P6M worth of shabu

A Person Under Police Custody (PUCP) confessed on Wednesday morning to Toril Police Station that he has more than P6 million worth of shabu hidden in his house in Barangay Ma-a in Davao City.

Alias “Jose” was caught by the personnel of Task Force Davao and Toril Police Station at the checkpoint in Sirawan, Toril on July 1, 2024, for carrying almost P500,000 estimated standard drug price (SDP) value of illegal drugs along with a handgun.

During the search at the suspect’s residence in Ma-a, police operatives recovered a large-sized cellophane wrapped in packaging tape containing suspected shabu worth P6,949,000.

Captain Hazel Tuazon, spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), said during the investigation at the Toril Police Station while the suspect was in custody, police officers were able to get the trust of the suspect who disclosed about the suspected shabu hidden inside his home.

“Part of the training gyud ni sa atoang kapulisan ang pagkuha ug simpatiya hilabi na kung tagaan ninyo sila ug maayong pagtagad ang suspect, “ Tuazon said during the Davao Peace and Security Press Corps media briefing at The Royal Mandaya Hotel.

Police operatives said according to the suspect, the illegal drugs were allegedly sent from Manila to Cagayan de Oro then to him here in the city.

Tuazon said the suspected shabu was transported by land.

Tuazon said possession of P6 million worth of shabu will be added to the case that the suspect will face.

The suspected shabu is in custody at the Toril Police Station and is scheduled to be taken to the crime lab.

Tuazon said not everything may be captured at the city’s border control, but she assured that TF Davao and the PNP ensure that if illegal drugs are being tried to enter their area of responsibility, they can be detected through the border control.

“Kung naa man makalusot naningkamot ang kapulisan na ma-locate ni with the help of the community, barangay officials. Mao na wala tay puas sa pag awhag sa tanan nga tagaan mi ug informaiton sa mga tao nga involved sa illegal drugs,” she said.
