DCPO reports string of theft incidents in Davao City

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has recorded a string of theft incidents in Davao City from August 4 to 14, 2024.

Based on the DCPO operational accomplishments shared to Edge Davao, of the eight focus crimes namely murder; homicide; physical injury; rape; robbery; theft; carnapping of motorcycles; and carnapping of vehicles, theft topped the list of recorded incidents with 29.

According to the DCPO, from 6 a.m. of August 4 to 5:59 a.m. of August 5, a total of 10 crime incidents were recorded wherein four of which were theft along with physical injury and robberies, but zero incidents for the rest of the other crimes.

For the period of 6 a.m. of August 5 to 5: 59 a.m. of August 6, DCPO recorded six incidents of theft while zero for the rest of the other seven focus crimes.

From 6 a.m. of August 6 to 5:59 a.m. of August 7, there were three incidents of theft recorded and one carnapping of motorcycle.

From the period of 6 a.m. of August 7 to 5:59 a.m. of August 8, one theft incident and one robbery were recorded while for the period of 6 a.m. of August 8 to 5:59 a.m. of August 9, there were four incidents of theft.

From the period of 6 a.m. of August 9 to 5:59 a.m. of August 10, two theft incidents were the only crime recorded, while four incidents of theft were the only incidents recorded from the period of 6 a.m. of August 10 to 5:59 a.m. of August 11.

A theft incident and a physical injury were also the only incidents recorded from the period of 6 a.m. of August 11 to 5:59 a.m. of August 12; two thefts from the period of 6 a.m. of August 12 to 5:59 a.m. of August 13; and from the period of 6 a.m. of August 13 to 5:59 a.m. of August 14, there are were two thefts, two robberies, and one physical injury incidents recorded.

“Yes, naa tay mga kaso sa theft pero dili ingon nga daghan gyud kaayo,” said Captain Hazel Tuazon, Spokespeorson of DCPO, during the Davao City Peace and Security Press Corps media briefing on Wednesday.

Tuazon said DCPO is urging victims and complainants of thefts to file cases against the suspects.

“Ato pud gihangyo ang atong complainant na kung dili ma-recover ang mga items atong filan ug kaso kay usahay ang complainant kung ma-recover na ang mga items dili na sila mu-file ug kaso, so free na pud ang mga suspects nga mangawat na pud ug lain kay dili man pud mi puwede mu-file ug kaso without the cooperation of the complainant,” Tuazon said.

Tuazon also said that DCPO’s Oplan R.A.T TUGIS (Robbery/ Hold-up, Akyat Bahay and Theft) in Davao City continues and that DCPO has a list of people involved in theft, robbery, and house-breaking (akyat-bahay).
