National Bureau of Investigation 11 (NBI 11) Regional Director Arcelito C. Albao said they are still searching for six other individuals after arresting two others in an entrapment operation in Panabo City, Davao Del Norte on Thursday.
Albao stressed in a text message to Edge Davao that they are part of an organized group that is extorting money from the business community. The two arrested individuals were presented to the media on Friday.
The NBI-SEMRO said a Chinese businessman filed a complaint at the NBI 11 office against the two suspects, who allegedly identified themselves as NBI agents and demanded P50,000 from him.
“A Chinese national reported an incident to this office and stated a very narrative matter describing the unscrupulous individuals pretending to be NBI agents. The point of this complaint is he was made to give a huge amount, for him to be not deported or incarcerated at the NBI regional office,” said NBI-Davao spokesperson Ely Leaño in a press conference in Davao City.
NBI-Davao’s entrapment operation yielded unlicensed firearms, dozens of ammunition, fake NBI IDs and uniforms from the suspects.
The two suspects will now be facing cases in violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act of 2012 (RA 10591), usurpation of authority, robbery and extortion.
