The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Saturday said 81 people have been reported dead following the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami).
At a news forum in Quezon City, OCD Administrator and Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno said the number of reported casualties is still subject to validation and verification.
Nepomuceno also disclosed that 66 persons were reported injured and 34 were reported missing.
In its latest disaster monitoring dashboard, as of Saturday morning, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that there are a total of 547 flooded areas across Regions I, II, III, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, V, VI, VIII, IX, XIII, CARAGA, BARMM, and National Capital Region.
Nepomuceno said 4.472 million people or 1.062 million families were severely affected by the weather disturbance.
As of 7 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, there are 82,000 families or 311,468 persons currently staying in evacuation centers.
As to damage to infrastructure, the NDRRMC reported that cost of damage stands at P203,826,014.38, accounting for 98 damaged roads, bridges, school buildings, among others.
A total of 8,432 houses were damaged, of which 7,506 were partially damaged and 926 totally damaged.
Damage to agriculture was estimated at P87,529,788.11, affecting 3,049 farmers and fisherfolk and 1,613.77 hectares of crops.
There are 83 cities and municipalities placed under state of calamity due to Kristine.
Kristine exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday.
However, its trough will still continue to affect parts of Luzon on Saturday, PAGASA said. PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms would prevail in Occidental Mindoro and Palawan because of the trough of Kristine.
