The city government of Davao on Friday turned over 60 motorcycles to some barangays to help them in responding to reported criminal activities.
Sixty barangays were chosen based on crime rate, population and number of narrow pathways in their areas. The barangay chairmen attended the turnover ceremony at Quezon Park to formally receive the motorcycles.
The motorcycles, funded by the City Mayor’s Office for P4.5 million, are equipped with blinkers and radios.
Barangay Daliao chair Joseph Dumogho expressed his gratitude to the city government saying the motorbikes will help his barangay tanod to quickly respond to gang activities.
“Grateful ko kay as I observed ang motorcycle naa na siyay blinker, radyo, dali ra pud gyud kaayo ang pag responde sa atoang mga tanod ani. Dali lang ma-alert ang mga tao sa barangay labi na nga rampant sa amoa ang gangsterism. Dako kaayo ning tabang para sa atoang barangay police kay as we know Daliao is one of the populated barangays in Davao City. Dako kaayo ni siyang tabang tungod kay para mapadali ang mobilization at the same time pag responde kung naa may mga panghitabo dinha sa atoang barangay,” Dumogho said in an interview.
He said Brgy.Daliao in Toril now has a population of around 22,000.
