DCPO says cases of robbery, theft in Davao City drop

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon reported on Monday that cases of robbery and theft in the city dropped from the period of September 29 to October 5.

Tuazon said that compared to cases recorded last week, authorities recorded only two cases of robbery and six cases of theft.

“In 182 barangays sa Davao City naa ta’y ingon ani lang na numbers for this week. Kaning theft bisan pa sa unsa kamagay, bisan pa ug wala kaabot ug P500 nga nakawat ma-record gyud na nato sa police station kay ato ng daginuton bisan unsa kagamay, bisan wala na nakaabot ug P100 i-record gyud na nato. Dili ingon ana ka dako ang figure for robbery and theft for Sept. 29 to October 5 kay nagkaanam na siya ug kaubos,” Tuazon said via Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR).

She added that the majority of these cases were petty crimes.

“Nakuratan lang ta sa nahitabo sa may Bajada katong 4 kabuok establishments pero solve nato ug na identify na ang mga grupo ug naa tay nahibaw-an nga naapud grupo nga napriso na ug isa pud na nga nakapakunhod sa mga kaso sa robbery and theft,” she said.

Tuazon was referring to the burglary incidents of two pharmacies and two bakeshops last month wherein the suspects destroyed the padlock of a roll-up door of a pharmacy to gain entrance and then also opened the door that connects to another establishment.

Meanwhile, Tuazon said there is no let up from the 19 DCPO police stations in monitoring crimes in the city.

For the campaign against illegal drugs from the period of September 29 to October 5, 18 anti-illegal drug operations were conducted wherein 30 individuals were arrested.

For the arrest of wanted persons, 44 operations were conducted wherein 44 persons were arrested.

For the campaign against illegal gambling, two operations were conducted wherein three individuals were arrested and two minors were rescued.

For the campaign against loose firearms, five operations were conducted wherein three individuals were arrested and two firearms confiscated.
