DCPO to deploy 1,114 personnel for Undas 2024

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Capt. Hazel Tuazon announced on Wednesday that a total of 1,114 personnel will be deployed to maintain peace and order for the upcoming religious holidays.

The personnel will be manning the 40 public and private cemeteries starting October 30 until November 3.

“Para sa mga do’s and don’ts ug mga ginabawal atong gihangyo ang tanan na mutuman ta ug mu-cooperate lang ta sa mga ginabawal like sa pagdala ug backpacks, bladed weapons, mag videoke, magdala ug ilimnon ug mag-inom and pagsugal,” said Tuazon said during the Davao City Peace and Security Press Corps Media Forum at The Royal Mandaya Hotel.

The DCPO released guidelines for the public for All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days to follow the “one entrance policy” when using walkways and vehicle owners shall follow the “one entrance, one exit policy.”

Wearing jackets, bringing backpacks, playing music or karaoke, gambling, staying overnight, bringing alcoholic drinks and pointed objects are strictly prohibited, the DCPO announced.

Drones and firearms are strictly prohibited except for those with security clearances.

Any sharp objects for sale like knives, cutters, scissors are forbidden including liquor and other intoxicating beverages. To keep pedestrians safe, cooking and customer dining on the sidewalks are also prohibited.

Police Assessment Desks will be available for those seeking assistance.

Acting City Police Director Col. Hansel Marantan called on all Dabawenyos to adhere to the guidelines set for a peaceful and orderly observation of Undas.

“Let us respect the sacredness of this occasion while ensuring the safety and convenience of all visitors. Together, we can honor our departed loved ones in a manner that upholds peace, respect, and security for everyone,” he said.
