Christ the Healer International Missions Movement founder and Love the Philippines Movement founding president Rodolfo “Bishop Rod” Cubos will potentially face big names in local politics as he filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) field office inside Magsaysay Park in Davao City on Saturday.

Cubos, who is an independent candidate, was the first mayoralty aspirant in Davao City to file a COC.

When asked by the Davao media what are his advantages over these big names in politics, Cubos cited the “voice and clamor of the people.”

Cubos said he likened his candidacy to the Biblical story of David and Goliath.

Dela Rosa. Walang pulitika o ano man ang iniisip ko dito,” he said.

Cubos said his platform focuses on the five key areas addressing Davao City’s most urgent concerns such as free hospitalization at the Southern Philippine Medical Center (SPMC), free education, job opportunities, public safety, hunger and food security.

Under his free hospitalization program, Cubos wants a healthcare system where all Dabawenyos can access free medical care without financial burdens. He also plans to establish “Botika ng Bayan” in all 182 barangays, ensuring residents free access to medicines.

“I am ready for this battle but I cannot do it alone. Together, let us fight for a better Davao City, a city where the people’s voice is stronger than any politician’s power. A city where we stand united, not divided,” he said.
