PSSO: Over 12k forces to secure cemeteries

The Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) will be deploying a total of 13,136 security forces during the observance of the All Saints’ Day and All Souls Day.

The PSSO will be implementing security measures from October 31 to November 3 in the city’s 38 cemeteries.

Col. Oscar Partuza (Ret.), PSSO Operations and Coordination Officer, said a total of 3,209 security forces will be deployed on October 31, and 3,359 others on November 1 and 2.

On November 3, a total 3,209 personnel will be deployed.

“Those security personnel will be securing all the cemeteries in the city,” he said during the I-Speak Session on Thursday.

The Task Force Davao, Davao City Police Office, Davao City Overland Transport Terminal, City Economic Enterprise, City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Civil Service Unit, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, High Patrol Group, and the Ancillary Services Unit are among the support agencies that will provide the security forces.

The security forces will be deployed in the public cemeteries in Panacan, Bunawan, Tibungco, Maa, Toril, Mintal, Tugbok, Tagakpan, Calinan, and Wireless Public Cemetery.

Security forces will also be deployed in Barangay Mandug, Baguio, Gumalang, Malabog, Tamugan, Buda, Paquibato, Barangay Marilog-Lumondao Public Cemetery, Marilog-Kibalang Public Cemetery, Talomo Proper-Ulas Cemetery, Datu Samumay-Pictan Cemetery, Colosas-Apalili Cemetery, Colosas-Panaga Cemetery, and Paradise Embac Cemetery.

There will also be deployment of forces in 14 private cemeteries.

Partuza said they have set up tarpaulins in big cemeteries regarding the city’s safety protocols.

He added they will have a soft deployment of security forces on November 30.

He said there will be considerations on the security protocols prohibiting people from carrying lighters and umbrellas.

“Yung pointed objects bawal talaga pero kato’ng mga payong nato since gamiton man nato siya sa init ug ulan, pwede nato ‘to siya magamit. However, we advise nga kung pwede lang yung mga dili pointed nga payong yung gamiton nila. Ang lighters nato, kung gamiton lang sa pagsindi sa kandila gi-allow nato ‘to but dili sa sigarilyo (Pointed objects are not allowed but umbrellas, since we use these to protect us from heat and rain, we can use them. However, we advise they bring umbrellas that are not pointed. Lighters, if used to light candles, will be allowed, but not for lighting cigarettes),” he said.

He said incident command posts and medical outposts will be set up in every cemetery.

He called on Dabawenyos to abide by the guidelines of the city government and its safety protocols to ensure the safety and security of cemetery goers. CIO
