Vice President Sara Z. Duterte challenged her own brother, Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte and political rival PBA Partylist Representative Margarita Ignacia “Migs” Nograles to undergo drug tests.
This developed after some lawmakers described her as “unbecoming” and hurled accusations of having mental problems following her fiery press conference last Friday.
The vice president said she is willing to undergo a neuropsychiatric examination but strongly challenged members of Congress, particularly the so-called “young guns”, to subject themselves to a drug test.
She called upon Filipino voters to demand that their politicians undergo the test.
“Let us make this an election issue. Dapat lahat ng mga “young guns” na kandidato, lahat ng mga congressional candidates, ay magpa drug test. As a voter, I am asking the candidates for Congress doon sa distrito ko sa first district of Davao City. Ipinaalala ko si Margarita Nograles and si Paolo Duterte. And as a voter, I demand na magpa drug test sila.” Duterte said.
“Kayong lahat mga kababayan as voters you demand na magpa drug test ang mga congressional candidates dahil kung unstable ako, sa paningin ko unstable din sila. Ngayon na magpa drug test tayong lahat,” she added.
She also called on medical groups to lay down guidelines for the neuro-psychiatric exam and follicle drug test pointing out for the sake of transparency, that it should be televised and the test should be open to the public.
The vice president said she is not unbecoming, having an unsound mind, and unstable, as described by critics, instead, she is just unforgiving, unyielding, and unbowed.
“To the Filipino people, sa lahat ng aking kababayan, hindi tayo uusad kung puro kurapsyon, politika, at pang aatake ang gagawin ng gobyerno. Ang ginagawa ng gobyerno, they silence people to talk about the truth kaya dapat ay i-demand nyo sa gobyerno, magtrabaho kayo sa amin para we see a better Philippines the next year and then the years to come,” she said.
Meanwhile, Rep.Pulong shared a video that showed him undergoing a drug test last August. His test yielded a negative result on the use of illegal drugs.
The hair follicle test was performed on the congressman after he proposed a house bill that will require all elected officials to undergo a drug test.
The video and a copy of the drug test results were released by Rep.Pulong after the vice president challenged candidates to undergo a hair follicle drug test.
Rep. Pulong also dared Nograles, who will challenge him in the upcoming 2025 midterm elections, to also take the drug test.
