Torreon asserts PNP complaints won’t impact Quiboloy’s cases

Lawyer Israelito Torreon, legal counsel for KOJC leader Apollo Quiboloy, asserted that the complaints filed against him and other alleged coddlers by the Philippine National Police (PNP) will not affect Quiboloy’s ongoing cases.

Torreon noted that he has faced previous cases, emphasizing that this is an inherent risk of their legal profession.

“I have faced cases also in the past on account of my job as a practicing lawyer. May mga kaso kasi na giitan, isa siguro ito sa mga kaso. Trabaho lang ‘yan,” he said.

Apart from the sedition and inciting to sedition complaints filed by the PNP-CIDG on Thursday, PNP Spokesperson PCol. Jean Fajardo said that they will also pursue obstruction of justice charges.

Fajardo explained that their complaint stemmed from being hampered during the search for Quiboloy at the KOJC compound in Davao City.

“If that is the case, we will await the filing of the new complaints. ‘Yan siguro ang nakita nilang tamang gawain,” Torreon reacted.

“We will file our own counter affidavit proving among others that we are innocent of the charges,” he added.

When asked if they intend to file counter-complaints against the PNP, Atty. Israelito Torreon said that, unlike CIDG Director Nicolas Torre III, he doesn’t disclose his moves in advance.

HEARING ON QUIBOLOY’S CHILD AND SEXUAL ABUSE CONTINUES

The preliminary conference and pre-marking of exhibits for Quiboloy resumed on Friday afternoon at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 106.

The detained televangelist and his co-accused are facing charges of child and sexual abuse, to which they have pleaded not guilty.

A pre-trial is expected following the completion of the evidence marking.
