The Davao City Council approved on Tuesday the provision of P17,700,000 financial assistance to local government units (LGUs) of the 36 cities, municipalities, and provinces affected by typhoon Kristine.
Each municipality hit by “Kristine” shall receive P300,000 financial aid while cities will P500,000, and P1 million for the provinces.
The municipalities that will receive financial aid from the city government of Davao are Laurel, Batangas; Mercedes, Camarines Norte; Los Banos, Laguna; Bulan, Sorsogon; San Fernando, Masbate; Virac, Catanduanes; San Pascual, Batangas; Lian, Batangas; Lemery, Batangas; Agoncillo, Batangas; Ibaan, Batangas; Cuenca, Batangas; Sariaya, Quezon; and Magpet, Cotabato.
For the cities, included are Naga, Naga; Calbayog, Samar; Calamba, Laguna; Sto. Tomas, Batangas; Dagupan, Pangasinan; and Batangas, Batangas.
For the provinces are Albay, Camarines Sur; Eastern Samar, Camarines Norte; Catanduanes, and Quezon.
On October 21, 2024, tyhoon Kristine made landfall in Divilacan, Isabela, and crossed Ifugao, Mountain Province, and Ilocos Sur, triggering widespread flooding, particularly in Bicol.
The trough of the depression also triggered heavy downpour in Metro Manila; Mindoro Occidental and Oriental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan, (MIMAROPA); portions of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon (CALABARZON), the Visayas, and parts of Mindanao.
