Former President Rodrigo Duterte bared it was the first time that he saw his daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte, present in inquiries he attended and hinted that perhaps the vice president is practicing law so that someday when she becomes president she knows how to handle a hearing.

The vice president arrived at the Batasang Pambasa to watch the joint inquiry of the Quad Committee of the House of Representatives (HoR), led by the Committees on Dangerous Drugs, Public Order and Safety, Human Rights, and Public Accounts, for the former president’s war on drugs campaign on Wednesday.

“First time ko yun nakita ko siya. I dont know what prompted her to be there. Well. she’s a lawyer at baka nagpa-practice na rin siya baka balang araw maging presidente siya so alam niya how to handle,” the former president told the media.

The former president also said he enjoyed the almost 13 hours of House inquiry on Wednesday.

“Maganda. Nag-enjoy ako sabihin ang totoo. Kasi hindi ako marunong mag-lie,” he said.

The inquiry encompassed Duterte’s anti-drug campaign, the International Criminal Court (ICC), and confidential funds.

The former president tussled words against Representatives Benny Abante, Dan Fernandez, Raoul Manuel, Arlene Brosas, France Castro, and Gerville Luistro; and former senators Leila de Lima and Antonio Trillanes.

During the hearing the former president answered all the questions on extrajudicial killings (EJKs) linked to his administration’s anti-drug campaign.

Duterte stood by his commitment to protect the Filipino people.

“I love my country more than anybody else in this room,” he told the QuadComm.

When asked by the media if he would attend the next hearing, the former president said he had finished and answered everything QuadComm’s queries in the hearing.

“Natapos naman ako lahat bakit pa ako tatawagin nila, maawa naman sila. How many hours kami nag…biro mo yan, sa edad ko..sunod yan wala na pagtindig ko derecho na ako sa..ano bang mura punerarya Paz o punerarya… mamatay na tayo niyan sa edad ko,” Duterte said.
