Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte said on Sunday that his father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, exposed to the nation how incompetent the congressmen handling the House of Representative’s (HoRs) Quad Committee hearing on war on illegal drugs campaign during the former Chief Executive’s administration.
Wala man gyud pulos. Paminaw nako ang effect ana sa politika in general sa Pilipinas, I think this would show us that we should be better voters gyud. Yuterring. Uttering of words yuttering? Ang ilaha kay magpa as if man gud,” Duterte said during “Basta Dabawenyo” podcast.
According to the mayor, the legislators should be drafting bills right now following the inquiry.
“Kadugay dugay nagsugod ana, ngano naa sila’y balaod nga napasa? Kanus-a pa man ta maghuwat? Unsa pa ma’y ginabuhat nato? Naa na unta mo’y (congress) bill nga na-draft by now,” he said.
The lawmakers in the QuadComm will continue doing inquisition to protect President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the mayor said.
They need to keep the fog to protect their President. Is he really working at all? Naa ba kay madungog? Wala. Ang presence niya in all of this, wala. Sige lang man na attend ug kasal. Puro lang selebrasyon ang ginakuan ana. Wala siya’s gina-address nga isyus gyud,” he said.
Meanwhile, the mayor said that among the concerns that the legislators in Congress should be discussing is the new Automated Voting Machines (AVM) that will be used in the 2025 local and national elections.
“Kana diay ilang istoryahan sa QuadComm diay and the people involved in this. Election na eh. Gipulihan nila ang Smartmatic with a new voting machine para sa elections. Unya walay laing kompanya or individual nga nagbid? Nganong dili kana ang istoryahan nila?” he said.
For the 2025 midterm elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will replace the ten-year-old vote-counting devices manufactured by Smartmatic, which Filipinos have been using since the 2016 elections, with brand-new machines from the Korean company Miru Systems.
