As part of the city’s commitment to support disaster-stricken families towards building back better, the city government through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) has given assistance to fire victims of Barangay Maa.
Social Worker Candy Mendiola, CSWDO Talomo A District’s emergency coordinator, said the November 24 fire left 31 families or 104 people homeless.
She said the CSWDO’s Mobile Kitchen was the first responder that went to the site to serve food to the fire victims. Food and non-food assistance, together with the modular tents, disaster kits, and hygiene kits, were also immediately provided.
Hot meals were also provided by the City Mayor’s Office. Vice Mayor Jay Melchor Quitain on Monday visited the displaced families.
She said they were also processing the victims’ financial aid.
Owners of destroyed houses will receive P20,000, damaged house owners will receive P15,000, renters and sharers will receive P10,000, while boarders will receive P5,000.
She said those who want to help the affected families may contact the NHA Plaza 9 Gym’s designated social worker in Maa. CIO
