Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) Director Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete vowed to remain committed to continue its intensified anti-illegal drugs operations in Davao Region.
“The PNP, in collaboration with its partner agencies, remains committed to intensifying anti-illegal drugs operations to ensure the safety and security of communities in the region,” Rosete said.
According to PRO 11, proof of this is the successive apprehensions of personalities involved in drugs and confiscations of illegal drugs and paraphernalia in the region.
The latest was the interception of a vehicle carrying a suspected shabu with a standard drug price of P1,014,560 through the coordinated efforts of the PNP personnel from Toril Police Station, Davao City Police Office (DCPO), 1st City Mobile Force Company, and PNP Drug Enforcement Group Special Operation Unit 11 (DEG SOU 11) together with the Task Force Davao Falcon at Sirawan checkpoint on November 16, 2024.
Based on reports, a gray Nissan Navarra was flagged down for a mandatory checkpoint in the said checkpoint and upon a thorough inspection, CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) personnel observed, in plain view, a red cellophane bag inside the vehicle containing big, transparent sachets with white crystalline substance on them.
The CAA personnel instructed the two suspects to step off from the vehicle but failed to comply.
When then CAA personnel try to check the red cellophane bag, the passenger grabbed and threw it away, however, the driver of the vehicle immediately stepped on the accelerator and sped away towards the northbound of Davao City.
CAA personnel alerted PNP personnel prompting a hot pursuit operation.
Police investigation is still ongoing.
Meanwhile, DCPO also continues its relentless efforts to combat the scourge of illegal drugs in Davao City.
The DCPO team successfully conducted anti-illegal drugs operations within 24 hours resulting in the apprehension of two drug personalities and the confiscation of suspected shabu worth P12,552.80 at standard value price.
In Tugbok, operatives from Tugbok Police Station confiscated shabu with an estimated SDP of P9,200.40 and the Los Amigos Police Station confiscated shabu with an estimated SDP of P3,352.40.
DCPO expressed its appreciation on the support of the barangay officials and the community in consistently providing information about individuals involved in illegal drugs.
“Illegal drugs are a significant factor contributing to crime in various areas. Thus, the DCPO team will not cease conducting operations against illegal drugs to provide a safer place for all Dabawenyos,” said Colonel Hansel Marantan, DCPO acting city director.
