Vice President Sara Duterte revealed on Wednesday that two individuals she did not identify warned her to be careful following her pronouncement that she hired someone to kill President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez if she gets killed.
“But I’ve been warned by two persons already. Be careful. I forget now what the exact words were said but I will review my notes and I will tell you what that one person said and how he said to be careful and what that other person said. Two persons warned me and I was asked during a press briefing by member of the media if I knew of these plans, I was asked about Romanov, I was told by two people and this was the first time I heard about Romanov, so that is the third already and I said don’t worry about my security if they kill me, if I die, kapag pinatay ako, kapag namatay ako in the context of don’t worry about my security so this means pinatay ka. Kasi hindi ka naman mamatay by heart attack in relation to your security. Pag namatay ako I already asked a person to take revenge against three individuals,” Duterte told the media.
Malacañang reacted to Duterte’s pronouncement and considered it a national threat.
However, Duterte said her pronouncement was taken out of context.
“My question now to the administration is, is revenge from the grave a crime? They have to kill me first. So now they can’t kill me anymore. Unless they want to die,” she said.
The vice president said the Marcoses are known for political persecution, suppressing and oppressing opposition.
She cited the example of the assassination of Benigno Aquino Jr.
“Remember, they (Marcos) are known for political persecution, they suppress and oppress the opposition. And then somebody was assassinated on the airport tarmac. They oppressed and suppressed, and the people were getting angry, frustrated and what did they do? They created a scenario that there is a national emergency, they set bombs to create a scenario, that there is a national emergency and then they assassinated their political enemy. So that’s the playbook. We already saw that in history. That is my proof,” she said.
Duterte said the only thing that he (Aquino) did not do the reason he couldn’t take revenge was because he didn’t ask someone to take revenge for him.
“But you know Benigno Aquino Jr. is not Sara Duterte. Ibang tao siya, ibang tao din ako,” she said.
The vice president said her team is preparing lists with proof that the whole of the Marcos government is going after her.
