The observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls Day in Davao City was very orderly and very peaceful, an official from PSSO says.
“Very orderly siya, hapsay, may mga gamay na glitches pero na correct dayon nato, overall very peaceful (It is very orderly, there were minor glitches but they were corrected immediately, overall it is very peaceful),” PSSO Head Angel Sumagaysay said in an interview after the weekly flag ceremony.
To ensure peace and order, the PSSO has deployed a total of 13,136 integrated peace and safety forces from October 31, 2024, to November 3, 2024, in the city’s 38 cemeteries.
The Task Force Davao, Davao City Police Office, Davao City Overland Transport Terminal, City Economic Enterprise, City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Civil Service Unit, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, Highway Patrol Group, and the Ancillary Services Unit were among the support agencies that provided security forces.
The security forces were deployed in the public cemeteries in Panacan, Bunawan, Tibungco, Maa, Toril, Mintal, Tugbok, Tagakpan, Calinan, and Wireless Public Cemetery. Some were also deployed in Barangay Mandug, Baguio, Gumalang, Malabog, Tamugan, Buda, Paquibato, Barangay Marilog-Lumondao Public Cemetery, Marilog-Kibalang Public Cemetery, Talomo Proper-Ulas Cemetery, Datu Samumay-Pictan Cemetery, Colosas-Apalili Cemetery, Colosas-Panaga Cemetery, and Paradise Embac Cemetery.
Security and safety forces were also deployed in 14 private cemeteries.
Tarpaulins containing the city’s safety and security protocols were set up, reminding the public of the do’s and don’ts in big cemeteries in the city.
