A city councilor is reminding Dabawenyos to abide by the city’s laws and ordinances, especially the Dabawenyo DCplinado program, to maintain safety and orderliness.
Councilor Luna Acosta, Sangguniang Panglungsod Committee on Peace and Public Safety Chair, in a privilege speech on Tuesday cited the illegal firework display in NHA Bangkal on January 1 which violated City Ordinance 060-02 Series of 2002 and Republic Act 7183.
She said a case has been filed before the Office of the City Prosecutor against the suspect, Remegio Ignacio, also known as “Botyok,” a businessman from Placer, Surigao del Norte.
She said Ignacio’s act went against the city’s vision as a progressive and orderly community where everyone abides by the law and public safety is maintained.
She also reminded Dabawenyos of the city’s Dabawenyo DCplinado program, saying the laws and ordinances, particularly City Ordinance 060-02 Series of 2002 and Republic Act 7183, are intended to control and regulate the production, sale, and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices in order to protect public safety and national security.
“Let’s be reminded of the Dabawenyos Dcplinado program of Davao City. This is not just a tagline but an initiative to promote discipline, respect, and socially responsible culture among Dabawenyos,” she said.
She said the program recognizes how Davao City’s discipline has allowed it to reach tremendous heights and prosperity.
She said the city government of Davao under the leadership of Mayor Sebastian Duterte is committed to doing everything in its power to ensure public safety and security, and reminded locals and guests not to break the law.
“Huwag po nating bastusin ang batas. Huwag nating bastusin ang mga Dabawenyo’ng sumusunod ng batas (Let’s not disrespect the law. Let’s not disrespect the law-abiding citizens of Davao),” she said. CIO
