The City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) has encouraged drivers to renew their Public Utility Vehicle identification cards (PUV IDs) or face consequences.
CTTMO Head Dionisio Abude said on Tuesday that the renewal of PUV IDs is ongoing, especially for the expiring ones.
“Ang dapat mag-renew kay ang PUV vehicles nga nay ID except lang sa bus ug mga truck. Apil diha ang Motorized Tricycle for Hire (MTH), taxi, passenger van, L300 van ug PUJ, mao siya ang apil sa atong public utility vehicle nga dapat dunay PUV ID. (Those who need to renew are PUV vehicles, which have IDs, except for buses and trucks. Included are Motorized Tricycle for Hire (MTH), taxis, passenger vans, L300 vans and PUJs, these are the vehicles that need to have PUV IDs),” Abude said.
He said that a fine of Php 1,000 will be imposed on those who are caught with non-renewed PUV IDs. This is the same penalty imposed for failure to display PUV IDs.
Abude said that they are already planning to deploy additional personnel to monitor, not just the PUV IDs, but also compliance to other traffic rules. CIO
