Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Capt. Hazel Caballero Tuazon reported on Wednesday that 40 vehicular accidents which resulted in the demise of seven individuals were recorded by the Davao City Police Office-Traffic Enforcement Unit (DCPO-TEU) from the period of January 1 to 6, 2025.
Caballero attributed majority of road crash incidents in the city to human error.
Tuazon said DCPO acting City Director Col. Hansel Marantan ordered the TEU to monitor the areas designated to them particularly where vehicular accidents are high.
“Sa mga panghitabo nga daghan ug incidents naa tay record ana ug naa pud tay monitoring sa mga kalsada,” she said.
She also said that vehicular accidents mostly occurred on the Davao Bypass Coastal Road and C.P. Garcia Highway.
Tuazon reminded the drivers to be disciplined and responsible on the road. She also called on those motorists entering Davao City to respect the speed limit being implemented in the city.
Davao City’s new speed limit ordinance took effect on January 11, 2024.
