An official of Davao City Water District (DCWD) announced on Wednesday that the water utility company has achieved climate-resilient water services in Davao City, which ensures an adequate and safe supply of water, even during times of drought, flooding, or other climate-related events.

“In Davao City, na-achieve na nato tung ginatawag na climate-resilient water service in terms of available water supply,” said Jovana Cresta Duhaylungsod, spokesperson of DCWD.

Duhaylungsod reported that currently, DCWD has around 715, 000 cubic meters per day water supply and that currently they are utilizing around 50% of that to meet satisfactorily and water demand in its service coverage areas.

“With that figure makaingon ta nga abunda ang atoang surplus that increases the confidence level na maka provide gyud si water district sa atoang present and future water needs,” she said.

Duhaylungsod also said that having a sustainable water supply supports the direction of making Davao City a world-class metropolitan.

Meanwhile, Duhaylungsod said it is also the goal of DCWD to increase the number of service connections, particularly the residential connections, thus the re-implementation of the P500 water service connection installment option.

DCWD offers a convenient installment option for residential customers who are planning to apply for a new service connection. Instead of paying the P6,000 new service connection fee, applicants will only pay P500 outright for water connection with DCWD.

The remaining balance of P5,500 will be paid on a staggard basis for 11 months.
