Mati City brings holiday cheer to sickly seniors

The City of Mati Local Government Unit (LGU), through its City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), spearheaded a heartwarming gift-giving activity, distributing grocery packs and rice to 257 sickly and bed-ridden senior citizens across various barangays in the city.

The distribution, which took place on December 24 and 31, 2024, and continues this January, was conducted house-to-house, ensuring that each recipient received the support personally. CSWDO Head Mae Belle Fontillas said the team has already visited 19 of the 26 barangays and remains committed to covering all barangays.

The initiative was a collaborative effort with various city offices contributing to its success. Aside from CSWDO, the City Housing Office, City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), and Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) played crucial roles in the distribution process, ensuring smooth coordination and efficient delivery of assistance.

In addition to the grocery packs and rice provided by the City LGU, the activity was supported by the group of City Legal Officer Karen Manluyang and the Day Care Service Parents Group, who contributed additional resources to the initiative.

This compassionate gesture underscores the City of Mati’s dedication to prioritizing its senior citizens’ well-being, spreading joy during the holiday season, and fostering a spirit of community care and collaboration. (CIO MATI)
