More than 500 establishments inspected for CCTV compliance

The Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) has inspected more than 500 establishments for compliance to the Amended Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Ordinance of the city.

PSSO Head Angel Sumagaysay said the figure was until the first week of January. The inspections started in September 2024. This is within the target of 500 that the PSSO set before the end of 2024.

“Almost 600 na ang na inspect ng atoang mga technical and daily na siya, very clear naman sa ordinance ang mga specifications nga dapat magiging compliant ang atoang businessman para sa renewal (Almost 600 had been inspected by our technical team, and we conduct this on a daily basis. It is very clear in the ordinance, the specifications that need to be followed, for them to be compliant for the renewal of their permits),” he said.

Those who fail to follow the CCTV ordinance may face penalties that include non-issuance of business permit and revocation, among others.

“We are working with the business bureau, kadtong mga findings namo, mga recommendations amo to nga gina forward sa ilaha, it is up to them unsa ang ilahang action didto (We are working with the business bureau, the findings we have, the recommendations, we forward it to them, and it is up to them what action they will take),” he said.

In the amended CCTV ordinance, establishments with a capital of Php 3 million or higher, and some establishments with less than Php 3 million in capital as enumerated in the ordinance, such as financial institutions, are required to have CCTV.

Through the ordinance, business owners were required to follow the specifications of the CCTV to be installed to enable the capture of high-definition footage. They are also required to follow the proper placement of CCTVs.

The PSSO continuously encourages Dabawenyos, especially owners of establishments, to install CCTVs for the safety of their business. CIO
