The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) condemned the impeachment complaints filed against Vice President Sara Duterte.
The vice president is facing three impeachment complaints before the House of Representatives.
In a statement on Saturday, PDP stated that the impeachment serves no higher purpose than to silence an independent and fearless leader who remains committed in her pursuit of good governance and social justice.
“This maneuver is an affront not only to Vice President Duterte but to every citizen who believes in the rule of law, the sanctity of democratic principles, and the inviolability of the Filipino’s mandate,” PDP said.
Meanwhile, SAGIP Party list Representative Rodante Marcoleta hit the quad committee of the House of Representatives on their investigation against former President Rodrigo Duterte, the vice president, and their allies.
According to Marcoleta, the quadcom is not a fiscal or a court, for them to give judgment to their resource persons.
“Ang quadcom ay hindi fiscal. Ang quadcom ay hindi korte. Nagpapanggap lang na korte. ‘Yung mga chairmen ng apat na komite doon, wala ni isang abogado,” he said.
Marcoleta encouraged his fellow congressmen, to put first the welfare of the Filipinos and address the problems rather than focusing on and trying only one person.
“Sa halip na ang unahin ay ang kapakanan ng mamamayan, bakit ang inuuna ay ang usigin ang isang tao na hindi naman ipadadaan sa tamang proseso ng batas?” he said.
