The Province of Cotabato is gearing for the start of the implementation of election gun ban slated on January 12, which will last until June 11, 2025.
Governor Emmylou T. Mendoza led the first Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting on January 6, 2025, attended by Cotabato Provincial Police Director Col. Gilberto B. Tuzon.
According to Ms. Mendoza, the conduct of the meeting aimed to ensure a peaceful and safe 2025 midterm local and national elections in the province on May 12, 2025.
Ms. Mendoza added that there have been initial meetings for the establishment of the Provincial Joint Security Control Center (PJSCC) which will help for the successful promotion of the 2025 election-related activities.
“I urged the Cotabateños to remain vigilant on their safety,” she said.
Ms. Mendoza emphasized the important role of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in suppressing the unlawful activities of some groups or individuals that cause fear to the Cotabateños.
Col. Gilberto B. Tuzon along with the Chiefs of Police (COPs) of various Local Government Units (LGUs) in the province expressed their strict cooperation with the provincial government led by Ms. Mendoza.
Col. Tuzon ensured the intensification of PNP programs to maintain order and security in the province of Cotabato.
Meanwhile, Commission on Election (COMELEC) Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Myla A. Luna shared during the meeting updates regarding the policies and guidelines that local governments must follow in the upcoming polls.
