Department of Labor and Employment 11 (DOLE 11) Director Randolph Pensoy reported on Monday that Davao Region has the highest employment rate and lowest unemployment rate in the country in October 2024.
Based on the data of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the employment rate in Davao Region has increased to 97.5% in October 2024 from 97.1% of the same period in 2023.
“Taas ang atoang employment rate,” Pensoy said during the Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City Davao.
Pensoy said the underemployment rate in October 2024 was 4.3% while 7.3% in 2023 of the same month.
He added that the unemployment rate in October 2024 was 2.5%, while 2.9% of the same month in 2023.
“Taas pod ang employment rate ug gamay ang atong unemployment rate of October 2024,” Pensoy said.
Pensoy said during the Regional Operation Cluster (ROC) meeting in Manila last month, employment and unemployment rates of the regions were compared and that among the regions, the Davao Region has the highest employment rate and the lowest unemployment rate.
Pensoy attributed this development to the programs of the national government and the entry of investors in Davao Region.
“The most important thing is I think the program also of the government and maybe the investors, I would say have given their trust and confidence to put more capital in our region that is why we have a high employment rate and gamay na unemployment rate,” he said.
