Maya on the Block: A Mardi Gras Christmas party for Women in Travel

The function room of Luxebridge Hotel in Ma-a, Davao City was bursting with purple, green, and gold hue, and the vibrant mood of the members of the Women in Travel as they reveled in their Mardi Gras-themed Christmas party.

I love how these lovely ladies have fun. They came dressed in purple, green, and gold, and wore beads to complete their Mardi Gras look.

These ladies are the cream of the crop, but they have no qualms in participating in the games and contests. All of them were super competitive.

When the music started to pump up, they didn’t hesitate to shake their groove and I love it. It’s non-stop dancing all night and you’ll be ashamed if you won’t join them on the dance floor.

According to Charter President Joji Ilagan Bian, Women in Travel is an organization of women presidents or CEOs of their tourism and travel-affiliated companies.

Women in Travel is an international organization that is affiliated with the International Federation of Women’s Travel Organisation ( IFWTO].

It was organized in 1991 in Davao and Bian was the charter president with 15 members.

Bian said in 2017 Women in Travel Davao decided to cease its affiliation with IFWTO since most of the members were busy with their businesses and sectoral membership.

“We had evolved to become a community and social organization. We have social events as well as community charity programs,” Bian said.

Women in Travel is not all about social events as they also opened their hearts to the less fortunate and picked the children with cancer in the House of Hope, children at the SOS Village, and female inmates as beneficiaries for their charity activities.

They party hard but still exude elegance with a heart.
