P1-M BOUNTY For info on identity of publisher’s killers

The reward money for anybody who could provide information in identifying the killers of Panabo City-based publisher Dennis Denora scaled up to P1 million, Task Force Denora revealed on Monday.

This came about after the Davao del Norte provincial government under Gov. Anthony del Rosario authorized the release of P500,000, ramping up the reward earlier raised to P1 million.

In a press conference, police officers P/Supt. Louwe A. Padillo and P/Supt. Alan Manibog, provincial director of Davao del Norte, revealed that ballistics results conducted on the bullets that killed Denora on June 7 matched those used in five other killings in the region.

Both police officers did not specify the victims in the five other killings except to say these occurred in the region.

They were also tight-lipped on where the five other killings occurred.

The same gun, they said, was apparently used in all killings.

They said the ballistic results were conducted at the Camp Crame crime laboratory itself.

They also denied they had several persons of interests or suspects that may lead to the resolution of the case.

The police officers said the task force is following up on leads and firming up evidences before they would come out with identities.

They also said they would not say if the triggerman/triggermen are home-grown or if they are imported from outside the region.

They said they are also not prepared to reveal the motive behind the killing of Denora.

“Please bear with us because by completing the evidences we may be able to pinpoint also who is behind the killing of Denora,” they added, saying that the pieces evidence should also be able to stand in court.

At the same time, Padillo appealed to those who were with Denora just hours before he was gunned down to submit themselves to the task force for interview in case they have pertinent information that could help solve the case.

The police officer said Denora was with a group of his fraternal brothers watching an NBA finals game, just hours before he was killed.

The task force also encouraged members of the Davao del Norte press community to immediately notify the task force in case of perceived threats to their lives.

The task force revealed it would able to give an updated report and reveal more information this coming Friday. (JKL)
