Civil engineers in Davao City continued its green projects and community involvement by turning-over one rainwater collector tank and ten garbage bins to once fire-raged elementary school of Manambulan, Piedad district, Tugbok last Friday.
The donation was made through the efforts of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Davao City chapter with its Project Green Engineering Philippines (PGEP) – Greening Existing Schools under the leadership of its national president DPWH undersecretary Romeo S. Momo and 1st vice president and project chair Engr. David Sanchez.
This is the 7th in seven consecutive months of this project and would still run through until December of this year as commitments from supporters flowed in, said Engr. Erdsan Rene S. Suero, president of the local chapter.
The other six recipient schools of the project are Diego Silang Elementary School of Matina Aplaya, New Carmen Elementary School of Tugbok district, Gatungan Elementary School of Bunawan district, Nawan Primary School of Malita north district, Davao del Sur; Ladian Elementary School of Marilog district and Aledia Elementary School of Paquibato ditrict, in the city.
“The project aims to promote the level of awareness of pupils, students, teachers and the community on water preservation, proper waste disposal and waste management,” Engr. Suero added.
In another development, the construction of the green-engineered one-classroom school building at New Carmen elementary school is underway and its planned completion will be on the 3rd week of November in time of the PICE’s 75th year celebration.
