Tyhoon Pablo damaged P94-M DENR 11 projects

Typhoon Pablo damaged a total of PhP 94-million-worth of forestry and coastal management projects of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 11.
Based on the Geographical Information System (GIS) data, Pablo wiped out PhP28 million worth of seedlings planted under the National Greening Program (NGP) in 2011 and 2012.
Most seedlings planted in the affected areas were falcata, rubber, narra, cacao, coffee, indigenous species and other fruit trees. 
The damage on its Integrated Costal Resource Management Project (ICRMP) was pegged at PhP 37.5 million, while damage on its Upland Development Program (UDP) established in 2009-2011 was placed at PhP17.3 million.
The damage brought on its Community-Based Forest Management- Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CBFM-CARP) reached to over PhP8.3 million, while the Soil Conservation Watershed Management project has a damage cost of PhP2.8 million.       
The ICRMP, which is an on-going project in Davao Oriental that started in 2006, generally aims to provide for the sustainable management and increased income for the communities of the province.
The NGP, on the other hand, is one of the priority programs of the government intended for poverty reduction, food security, biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation and adaptation.
