A mix of veterans and upstarts shone in the recent Dula Dabawenyo organized by the Dabaw City Sports Council Inc.
National Master Alexander Lupian, a veeran of the World Chess Olympiad, won the gold medal in chess while Jetrick Bautista showed a lot of promise in winning two gold medals in wushu.
Lupian bested rivals Kurt Placencia and Blance Bongato to bag the gold medal in the initial staging of this novel event.
Bautista took home twin golds in Nan Quan and Chan Quan events to become the most bemedalled athlete of the sportsfest with two golds and a silver.
Jestoni Erot won the silver and Jonathan Morales took the bronze in Nan Quan.
In Chang Quan, Morales took the silver while Erot settled for the bronze.
Morales, however, got back in the Junior Cudgel event winning the gold over Bautista who settled for the silver while Erot came in with the bronze.
Junaper Galloniga won the gold in the Kids Girls Wu Bu Quan with Vince Lou Onez taking silver and Patricia Aida Lucas going home with the bronze.
In the Boys division, Hezekhian Rezelleza won the gold medal with Jaden Provido taking silver and Brent Andrew Subu pocketing the bronze.
Rafael Canlas won the Junior division Wu Bu Quan gold besting Bryan Gerald Auson who got silver and Gregorio Sabino who took bronze.
