Davao’s Xylle Julienne Mabale scored 25 Stableford points and prevailed over Jada Ebacuado of Mati via playoff to rule the girls 18 and under division while Britannika’s Rainier Tagwalan scored 52 Stableford points in outpointing Davao’s Nino Villacencio by a single point to rule the Boys 18 and under category during the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines Christmas tournament at the Apo Golf and Country Club on Sunday December 1,2024.
“I am overwhelmed by the presence of these young boys and girls. A total of 108 young golfers responded to our call despite a short notice. This is a testament that Davao indeed has abundance of young golfers, this southern part of Mindanao. My appreciation to the parents for their support, and to the Apo Golf and Country Club. Maraming salamat sa inyong suporta.” Said Oliver Gan, President of the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines.
The kids were in awe and inspired by the presence of Rianne Malixi, ranked Number 3 in the world, current U.S. Girls’ Junior golf champion and US Women’s Amateur Champion who gamely posed for the young golfers and award the trophies and signed balls during the fellowship night.
Young boys and girls from as far as Bacolod City, Cagayan de Oro, South Cotabato and Sarangani joined with their peers from Davao for this tournament. The atmosphere was festive with the camaraderie among parents who joined hands in supporting their kids during the day long tournament.
In the girls 13-14 years old category Isabella Tabanas prevailed over Merry Rose Wacan via playoff after both of them finished 52 during the regulation. Alexie Isabella Gabi came in third with her 51.
Guio Pasquil (43) topped the 13-14 boy’s category with Hisham Gampong (36) and Felix Bula III (33) came in as first and second runner up respectively.
Kimberly Baroquillo (54) came on top for the Girls 11-12 category with Apo’s Solana Jay Molde (42) and Ayla Pavadora (31) joining her at the podium as first and second runner up.
For the Boys 11-12 category Laurence Saban (45) got the champions title with Prince Bisera (29) and Scionvirje Recto (26) joining him as first and second runner up respectively.
