The city council of Davao has approved the allotment of P7.5 million for the victims of Roxas Night Market bombing incident which occurred on September 2, 2016.
This came about through two separate ordinances approved by the City during its 18th Regular Session on Tuesday.
The first ordinance gave authority to the city mayor to utilize a portion of the trust fund obtained from donations in the amount of four million five hundred thousand (P4,500,000.00) as grant-in aid for the livelihood assistance of the victims of the September 2, 2016 Roxas Night Market blast.”
The second ordinance authorized the city mayor to utilize a portion of the trust fund obtained from donations in the amount of three million pesos (P3,000,000.00) for the medical assistance to the victims of the September 2, 2016 Roxas Night Market blast needing continuous and long term medical care.”
A total of P8.9 million pesos worth of donation coming from the private sectors was received by the city government in the aftermath of the Roxas Night Market bombing incident.
The proponent of the said ordinance was committee on finance ways and means head Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang.
The councilor said that the livelihood project which will be initiated by the city social services will be of help especially for the victims who have been incapacitated to work because of the unfortunate incident.
As for the survivors who are in need of medical assistance, 11 of them are still undergoing therapy and one victim is up for operation.
On September 2, 2016, 14 people were killed when a bomb exploded at Roxas Night Market and injured 67 others.
