The Department of Education will not suspend anything in relation to the declaration of martial law in Mindanao.
“We are not going to suspend anything and classes will open as scheduled, ” said Department of Education spokesperson Genelito Atillo.
Atillo the Dep-Ed’s central office has no advisory on anything that would be re-aligned in so far as class opening schedules are concerned.
Given that there was no advice from the Central Office of moving the schedule of classes, he said the classes will start as scheduled on the 5th of June 2017, for the school year 2017-2018.
We expect everything to be normal, he said.
Saying that the martial law is actually the result of a peaceful country, Atillo said the education department is fully supportive of Duterte’s action.
He said martial law is the strongest defense against violence as being played out in Marawi City.
