The Public Safety and Security Command Center gave assurance there will be no curfew to be imposed in Davao City during the 60-day duration of Martial Law.

During his arrival speech on Wednesday, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte indicated he would impose curfews in certain areas in Mindanao such as Lanao del Sur, Lanao del Norte, Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat, North Cotabato and Zamboanga, following his Martial Law declaration for the whole Mindanao on May 23.

“There’s no curfew imposed in Davao city and the Mayor is not contemplating of any,” said PSSCC Chief Benito de Leon on Thursday.

But De Leon said the residents and tourists in Davao City should cooperate in following the guidelines set by Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio for Martial Law in Davao in order to ensure the safety of the citizens in their day-to-day activities.

De Leon strongly encouraged the public to abide by the guidelines and particularly discouraged them from staying outside of their residences for whatever purpose.

He also advised people to report any suspicious persons or activities that will happen in their area so that the police will be able to respond immediately.

On Wednesday, Mayor Sara released the guidelines for the general public of Davao after the declaration of the President Duterte of Martial Law in Mindanao. This was after the Maute terrorist group attacked Marawi City on Tuesday, threatening the safety of the island which prompted the President to declare martial law.
