The Philippine Councilor’s League has expressed support to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s declaration of Martial Law in light of the Maute terrorist attack in the Islamic City of Marawi. Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, PCL National Chairman said that the league came up with a unanimous consensus supporting the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao.
“It is necessary and beneficial. Rebellion must not be given any chance. Violence and lawlessness must be stopped,” said Dayanghirang.
He further showed the organization’s support to the decision of the president and said that it is his duty “to protect its constituencies.”
“We are for it as it is necessary and beneficial and the president has all our support. The councilors league supports his declaration.”
PCL is comprised of 16,500 councilors nationwide headed by Davao City Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang as the National Chairman and Luis “Chavit” Singson as National President.
The league was established in 1989 and officially became a local government association after the Department of Interior and Local Government accredited it on September 3, 1990 and subsequently registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on September 17, 1990.
