“This changes the situation from the previous lock down we issued,” said Mayor Sara.
In a press conference held Wedenesday, Mayor Sara said that the guidelines for Davaoenos for the duration of Martial Law were issued to ensure safety of every Davaoenos in the conduct of their day-to-day activities.

According to the guidelines, traveling via motorcycle convoys is also discouraged. The travelling public are also advised to ensure that their vehicle registration are updated. Those carrying firearms must have valid licenses to show as well, as permits to carry them. Cooperation by the travelling public in checkpoints established by the AFP and PNP personnel is expected. The public are enjoined to bring with them identification documents at all times.

Minors are extremely discouraged from going out at night, except when accompanied by adults. Consuming excessive alcohol is also discouraged.

Tourists in Davao City are advised against going to areas that are not included among the main tourism areas of the city. They must always bring with them their passports and other proofs of identification.

The guidelines were issued as a response to the declaration by President Rodrigo Duterte of martial law for the whole of Mindanao. Said declaration came after terrorist group clash with government forces in Marawi City. Security concerns in Sulu, Zamboanga Peninsula, Central Mndanao and the Davao Region have been raised prompting the President Duterte to place the entire Island of Mindanao under martial law.
