259 vehicles were impounded after the conduct of Oplan: Lambat Bitag Sasakyan here by the joint operation of the Davao City Police Office, Task Force Davao, Highway Patrol Group, Punlic Safety and Security Command Center, City Traffic and Transportation Management Office, Land Transportation XI and the volunteer Police Auxiliary, on Friday.
The operation aims to clear the city from undocumented/carnapped and delinquent vehicles roaming around the entire Davao City.
The operations is not only limited to the Public and Private Utility Vehicles, it also targeted the motorcycles, tricycles and trucks.
The 259 vehicles impounded by the authorities were apprehended from Toril to Panacan area from 1 to 6PM following the strict security measures of the city after the declaration of Martial Law.
Among the 259 vehicles, 3 were Hilux pick ups, 4 SUVs, 3cars and 4 jeepneys, and 245 motorcycles were caught for serious traffic violations.
634 Temporary Operators Permit were also issued to minor traffic violators during the conduct of the operation.
Prior to the conduct of Oplan alam at Bitag Sasakyan, authorities alread reminded the public that the they will implement stricter security measures, including the major road measures to ensure the safety of the city.
DCPO Director Sr. Supt Alexander Tagum said that they have received reports that some suspicious vehicles are entering the city coming from the nearby towns.
“We have intel reports that there are suspicious vehicles who are about to enter the city, those vehicles are from Marawi,” he said.
Tagum said that their conduct of activity was also in lines with the declaration of Martial Law in the entire Island of Mindanao.
He added that more operations will be conducted randomly.
