MGen Clement now 10th ID commander

Major General Noel Clement, formerly the deputy chief of staff for operations of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), now holds the commandership of the 10th Infantry “Agila” Division.

In a ceremony yesterday in Mawab town in Compostela Valley province, Major General Rafael Valencia turned over the command of the 10th Infantry Division to Major General Clement. Major General Valencia will hold the position of inspector general of the AFP at the central headquarters.

Major General Clement emphasized in his speech that he will continue the gains that the military is doing in the community.

“We have gain a lot base on the efforts that we are doing in the community, and I intend to continue that and look for way to improve the peace and order here,” MGen Clement stressed.

He also said that one of the important factors in the accomplishment of the military in the area is the involvement of the stakeholders.

Major General Clement also called on the public to make a stand in curbing out terrorism in the area.

“At this point in our campaign, we cannot afford to be fenceseater. We have to make a stand if we are for terrorism or peace. If we want peace, everybody has to contribute and everybody has to confront these threats. And that is the only way we can defeat our enemy.”

The turn-over ceremony was attended by commanding general of the Philippine Army Lieutenant General Glorioso Miranda, Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy of Compostela Valley, Governor Nelson Dayanghirang of Davao Oriental and other local officials within the area of responsibility of the division.

Governor Uy expressed his support to the programs and projects of the new commander of the 10th ID.

The Agila division covers the area of Davao Region, Region 12, and the municipalities of Trento in Agusan del Sur, Lingig in Surigao del Sur and San Fernando in Bukidnon. (PIA11, Michael Uy)
