Classes in Ateneo De Davao University and High School campuses were cancelled due to the bomb threats it received on September 29, Friday.
On Saturday, Task Force Davao Commander Nolasco Mempin said his office has pinpointed ‘a possible person of interest’ but will not divulge the person’s identity following due process.
He said that in addition, the incident is still under investigation by proper authorities to include the management of Ateneo de Davao University.
Records of the Philippine National Police showed that incidents of prank calls especially during the exam period.
“The PNP or school admin na ang in-charge if there are any laws breached by the students. We don’t want to speculate as to the motive of the prankster,” said Mempin.
The ‘person in interest” reportedly texted two college students of Ateneo De Davao that a bomb will explode in thee campus at around 11:04am Sep 29, 2017.
This prompted Ateneo management to call up the Task Force Davao which sent its explosive ordinance disposal unit to Ateneo’s two campuses at Roxas Boulevard and in Matina to investigate. conduct panelling.
On the same day, another unidentified caller called a senior high school student of Ateneo that a bomb will explode at Martin Hall said school at 1:55 in the afternoon. And by 3pm on the same day, the EOD declared that both Ateneo campuses were cleared of any bomb threat.
The cell phone numbers involved in the incident were given to proper authorities for follow-up investigation and appropriate action.
Mempin said that they have intensified their close coordination with various establishments on how to respond and prevent similar incident to happen.
“We encourage everyone to be vigilant and take precautionary measures against similar incidents, he said.
