Determined to stay on top, the iconic Royal Mandaya Hotel has raised the bar several notches higher with a P14Million worth of renovations that illuminated its main lobby, relocated its VIP room, lit up its Kamayo Café and injected a classic and grandiose aura to its royal ballroom and hallway.
And here is what you all want to know, it has also improved the menu.
“It is our of saying that we aim to forge ahead or to be at par with the best in the industry,” said general manager Benjamen Banzon at the inauguration of the hotel’s newly-renovated facilities.
The facilities were blessed by Fr. Amado Arroyo.
Architect James Jao said the renovations arose from a vision that was put into reality, following an ‘eco-deco’ design that represents the best of the Philippines.
The piece d’ resistance may well be the raindrop-inspired chandeliers that illuminate the facilities.
The new VIP room now overlooks the hotel’s façade and a view of J. Palma St. and can accommodate 33 diners comfortably.
The newly-renovated Kamayo café has a pair of the raindrop-inspired chandeliers with one side framed with mother of pearl shell tiles handcrafted from Cebu.
Department of Tourism regional director Roberto Alabado congratulated the hotel management for the renovations even as he praised the hotel for carrying the name of the region.
“This is decidedly first-class,” he said.
“We will match the hotel management’s renovations with aggressive marketing on our part,” he added.
He said there is a still a need for more hotels and more hotels if the Davao region is to entice the China market.
“This market is particular about the need for three or five-star hotels,” he said, adding that the city still does not have the facilities to hold two national conventions simultaneously for lack of rooms.
He said the DOT is also looking towards an establishment that could produce 100% Halal kitchen to cater to a purely Muslim clientele.
Banzon said the renovations undertaken by the hotel is the management’s way of repaying its clientele and the city for the opportunities bestowed on it.
