A former member of the Presidential Security Group was shot to death by a still unidentified assailant while on his way home in Magpet, North Cotabato, around 4:30 p.m., Friday, a police official said.
Chief Inspector Rommel Constantino, chief of the Magpet municipal police station, identified the victim as Ronel Galupo, 42.
Galupo, a retired Army man belonging to the 56th Infantry Battalion, served as PSG member under the Duterte administration.
He was driving his Honda 150cc motorcycle on his way home to RVM Subdivision in the town proper when the attack happened.
The victim sustained several gunshot wounds in the head and chest.
The gunman and a companion who served as lookout fled to Barangay Binay in Magpet, the usual exit route for criminals, said Constantino.
The Magpet Police is following the lead that Galupo engaged a neighbor in a heated altercation on Thursday, just hours after arriving from Davao City.
But police refused to divulge what the altercation was all about.
After leaving the PSG member, the victim worked for a private security firm based in Davao City. He would visit his family in Magpet once in a month, reports said. (Malu Cadelina Manar/MindaNews)
