Tourism industry players in Davao Region are all set for the “widest and longest” festival for this summer dubbed as Visit Davao Summer Festival (VDSF) 2018, from April 15 to June 30.
Davao City Councilor Al Ryan Alejandre,committee chair on tourism said on Tuesday during the Pulong-Pulong ni Pulong at the Councilors Lounge that the tourism summer campaign will run for 10 weeks from April 15 to June 30 in 10 events classified into sports and adventures with 12 activities; cultural and arts with 12 activities; and party, fun, and leisure with seven activities.
“The 10-week season-long celebration and widens its coverage to seven areas with Compostela Valley (ComVal) as the newest partner of the VDFS and the other areas are Davao City, Sta. Cruz Davao del Sur, Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos), Davao del Norte, Mati City and the province of Davao Oriental,” Alejandre said.
“The festival is bringing summer experience to a whole new level not only in Davao City but to the other parts of Davao Region, as well” he said.
He added that tourists would experience enticing discounts in beaches and islands, hotels and restaurants, shopping malls, and spa wellness centers.
On previous reports, the VDSF highlighted the staging of Mt. Apo Sky and Vertical Race and Mt. Apo Boulder Face Challenge via Sta. Cruz trail in Davao del Sur. There is also the Visit Davao Samal Marathon and AirAsiaDurianMan Cross Channel Triathlon in Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte.
Alejandre said that VDSF is on its fifth year, aimed to increase tourism arrivals in Davao Region by making Davao top-of-mind during summer through sports, adventure, culture, arts and party, fun and leisure events.
