Anvil Business Club Holds Induction In Davao City

Thank you for choosing Davao City to be the first venue of your induction outside of Metro Manila. We are happy and grateful and an honor for Davao City”, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio said during her speech before the officers and members of the Anvil Business Club.

Members of the Anvil Business Club (Association of Young Filipino-Chinese Entrepreneurs) recently visited Davao City for an event that was 27 years in the making. June 30 marked their first time to hold an Induction Ceremony outside of Metro Manila. The ceremony was held at the Marco Polo Hotel Davao with none other than Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio as their inducting officer.

Mayor Duterte-Carpio highlighted, “Progress in any community cannot be achieved solely by the efforts of the government. We recognize that a robust private sector is essential and a factor in the advancement of any society. Davao city is what it is today because of a strong private sector”.

The Anvil Business Club, Inc. (Association of Young Filipino-Chinese Entrepreneurs) is an organization of young Filipino-Chinese businessmen and professionals, aged 21 to 50, committed to propagate positive values in promoting a healthy economy, progressive society, and pursuing excellence in  our respective fields of endeavor, for the economic and social progress of our  country.

Having some 450 members across different industries, Anvil recognizes that Davao City has one of the greatest and strongest economic value and future in the country. For Anvil, the Mindanao region has a vast and resource-rich landscape that presents a plethora of economic opportunities.

Aside from its economic value,  the Anvil Business Club chose Davao City as its incoming President, Patrick Cua, like President Rodrigo R. Duterte, is also the club’s first president from Mindanao.

Further, Anvil President Patrick Cua expressed, “We choose Davao because, in a recent study, the next growth areas in the Philippines and ASEAN countries are in the secondary and tertiary sectors such as Davao in the Philippines”.

Chairman Wilson Lee Flores, on his end, emphasized that the organizations admire and reapect her leadership and courage that led to the success of Davao City.

We are encouraging the growth of businesses outside Metro Manila. And Davao City is one of them”, Cua said.

Anvil Business Club encourages traditional Confucian values and entrepreneurial courage amongst young entrepreneurs. Of which, upholding high ethical standards and civic consciousness in order to support the Philippines’ global competitiveness.

A new honorary member of Anvil is Davao City’s rising young business tycoon Dennis Uy, who controls 3 publicly-listed companies including Phoenix Petroleum.
