In my decades of political and journalistic experience, I have never seen a much more brutal and organized effort to topple a duly constituted authority than the one we all are witnessing at the present.
These are what I call scoundrels of destabilization.
From what we read, watch and hear from the mainstream print and broadcast media, there’s no doubt there are sinister designs to unseat the incumbent Malacanang tenant. So much faultfinding has been recorded, such that even the most minute slips of the President are blown into staggering and alarming proportions.
The imperial Manila-based media are obviously in cahoots with the political opposition led by the Yellow Party as the trend and avalanche of anti-Digong news reports show.
Imagine this. Fresh from his bountiful trip to Japan, instead of highlighting the $6B investment and assistance PRRD got, a broadsheet headlined an item that was far, far less impactful in news value than Digong’s bringing home much bacon for the Filipinos.
There is a clear indication that the architects of this “oust Duterte movement” are echoing the pattern of EDSA 1 and 2, employing the much-abused People Power cliché that booted out the Marcos conjugal dictatorship and the Erap government in 1986 and 2001, respectively.
During the first term of the much-maligned Marcos regime, the political opposition, including those outside of the law who were then described as “subversives” waved only the flag of democratic dissent and hardline resistance from a distance.
Only when martial law was declared did the anti-Marcos groups organized themselves to fight aggressivelythe former as their common enemy.
Erap’s ouster was more of a calculated coup, a collective participation of civil society groups, the religious (CBCP/INC), military and political opposition and the mass mobilization of the urban poor and sectoral NGOs who were effectively “brainwashed.”
To the extent of washing the country’s dirty linen in international fora, the enemies of PRRDwore their facial masks as dense as crocodiles’ hides in the hopeof stringing together the moral and financial support of the EU, UN and the US.
Ignoring that the tide of popular support has flowed over to this leader from the South, stalwarts of the fallen opposition unceasingly harass and harangue the Duterte government through various Machiavellian tools of communication every way possible.
Regardless if they are tagged anti-Filipinos, these cowards have even hired foreign-based PR people, with financial aid from CIA-backed private organizations, to tear down the initial positive impression of the Chief Executivein the global news market.
Wow, I’m aghast at this negative display of factionalism that is leading them to commit un-nationalistic acts. I cannot believe that they will be so demonic as to go down this low; that at any cost, for as long as they get back into power, these Yellow scoundrels will move heaven and earth (the entire universe, for that matter) to create an EDSA 3.
I wonder if the existing statute on treason, if ever there is one, has any applicable relevance in this situation. I think we all are familiar that the US has convicted a few un-patriotic American citizens who sold their country’s interests to the enemy.
This overarching attitude of the political opposition is condemnably worse than the Islamic rebel groups seeking self-determination and local autonomy for their people in Muslim areas in Mindanao; worse than the sparse militant sectors waving the red banner of the communist movement; yes, worse than the barbaric strategies and approaches of the ISIS-inspired Maute terrorist group.
Look, the truth is that the Yellows are consistently provoking PRRD to respond with extra-legal gestures and make him fall into a snare. They have been conveniently using the CHR as an effective shield to disguise their combined anti-government objectives.
With the help of the mainstream media, Filipinos are wittingly brainstormed to believe “little white lies” that the opposition wants to spread as gospel truth.
As you may have seen recently, even uninvited foreign individuals who did not have the appropriate personality to comment on the government’s intensified war on illegal drugs are making unsolicited remarks against the President.
Filipinos need to be wary of these ploys.
The peace-loving citizens of this country need to link arm in arm against the wedge the political opposition – the LPs, in particular – is going to drive upon the nation and divide the people.
Stop polarization.
Stop destabilization. (Email your feedback to fredlumba@yahoo.com.) Mt. 7:13. “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.” GOD BLESS THE PHILIPPINES!
