Phoenix Petroleum, the country’s fastest-growing oil company, has extended its support to the conservation and breeding of the critically endangered Philippine Eagle for the next five years.

In a memorandum of agreement signed recently between Phoenix Philippines Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Phoenix Petroleum, and the Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF), the company will continue providing funds for the sustenance, enclosure maintenance, and veterinary care of Phoenix—a male Philippine Eagle adopted by Phoenix Petroleum in 2012.

“Aside from serving the community through the quality and innovative products and services that we provide, we are also committed to helping the country be a better place to live in through the various CSR programs we are consistently and continuously doing,” Phoenix Petroleum Chief Operating Officer Henry Albert Fadullon said. “As a proudly homegrown company, we have extended our adoption of the Philippine Eagle called Phoenix to further assist in the protection and breeding of our national bird.”

Phoenix, together with his partner Marikit, is one of the only three natural pairs of Philippine Eagles who are currently under the protection and care of PEF at the Philippine Eagle Center in Davao City.

With the goal of helping PEF increase the population of the Philippine Eagle in the wild, Phoenix Petroleum has also renewed its support to the wildlife conservation initiatives of the organization. PEF rehabilitates the birds and breeds them in captivity before releasing them into their natural habitat.

The adoption of Philippine Eagle Phoenix is one of the projects under the environmental protection and preservation programs of Phoenix Petroleum. The Foundation also facilitates numerous corporate social responsibility projects under its education, health, safety, and other outreach campaigns.
